Hello my name is

Emma Jewell Cohen

(she/her)

Somatic Radical Aliveness Practitioner & Licensed Massage Therapist

Cultivating empathetic and resilient networks through profound relational healing.

My mission is to empower you to reclaim your energy, enhance your capacity to confront challenging realities, and navigate difficult interactions with greater ease.

Emotions translates to physical tension. The body stores unresolved feelings that crave acknowledgment and empathy. I find fulfillment in navigating powerful emotions, addressing pain, and unraveling systems personally and systemically for greater health.

My healing approach initially began with massage and bodywork. As I delved deeper into my practice and my personal healing journey, I understood that healing requires going beyond the physical realm. It involves unraveling the intricate connections between emotions, personal narratives, and relationships.

Motivated by this insight, and my personal desire to heal, I embarked on a path of deep emotional unwinding, confronting my fears and untangling layers of trauma. During my four-year training at the Radical Aliveness Institute, I immersed myself in the study of body-based counseling, complexity healing modalities, and leadership development.

Supported by my peers, fellow practitioners, and spiritual practices, I unraveled countless layers of complex systems that constrained me. This liberated me from painful cycles and empowered me to embrace life and healthy relationships. Throughout this transformative journey, we were challenged to confront each moment with courage and unwavering authenticity, even in the face of discomfort and resistance. (Re)Learning an intricate web of personal, familial, and relational trauma, including issues of sexual abuse and systemic oppression. These years of training, capacity building, spiritual practice and dedication to truth, catalyzed a profound shift within me, fostering a deeper sense of curiosity and resilience.

Inspired by this unlearning, and connection with my perceptual filter, I pursued further education in the relational world view modal and systemic thinking within the Indigenous Nations and Native American Studies department at Portland State University. Here, I engaged in the vital process of learning the truth about systemic pain, delving into the complexities of generational trauma and unlearning problematic narratives that are deeply internalized and causing harm.

These studies reaffirmed the significance of deep listening, acknowledgment, empathy, and truth-telling in our collective journey towards systemic change and decolonization. Recognizing our interconnectedness with the land and each other, I embrace the responsibility to embody and spread health and healing in the world.

Continuously challenging the narratives propagated by dominant Western society, I constantly return to introspective questions: "Who am I?" and "How do I contribute to a sense of belonging and interconnectedness?"

My Approach

Each person is born into a family system and social system. Each system holds values, norms and things that are taught to be good or bad. These values and beliefs shape the frame we experience the world through. I call this the frame and worldview. Each person has a unique set of world views.

When people think different ways are the right way. When the complexity of life experience, race, class, culture, family, and so much more clashes in relationships, we don’t usually get a chance to find out what is really going on. I work with this place. I support you to unravel your beliefs, learn where they come from, how they affect you, your body and your relationships with the people around you. This unraveling allows you to find out more and discover whether you want to choose to act from these values and beliefs, or whether it’s time to let them go and find a different way.

Navigating the complexities of social, communal, and familial structures demands courage and a willingness to feel everything that arises in the face of deeply rooted patterns.

With a profound empathetic presence, I offer focused support for your personal and collective journey. Through a blend of movement, sound, relational curiosity, and intuition I guide you towards reconnecting with yourself. Whether you're grappling with heartbreak, anger, fear, insecurity, anxiety, or any other emotion. Sessions are designed to empower you to navigate life with greater fluidity and ease. By cultivating resilience and spaciousness, you'll learn to approach everyday challenges with mindful responsiveness rather than reactive impulsivity.
